If you are a business owner, then it is time to start social selling. Social selling is the process of using social media platforms to build relationships and sell products or services. In the past, selling was a one-way street. A company would put out an advertisement and hope that people would respond favorably. With social media, selling has become a two-way street. We now have the ability to connect with our target market, learn about their needs and wants, and then sell them the products and services that they need.

Why You Need to Be Doing It

Social selling levels the playing field. Before social media, the big businesses held all the power because they had the money to buy advertising space and reach a large audience. With social media, any size business can reach their target market without spending a lot of money on advertising. All you need is a computer, an internet connection, and some time.

Another reason why you should be doing social selling is that it allows you to build relationships with your customers. When you build relationships with your customers, they are more likely to trust you and do business with you again in the future. Finally, social selling gives you the ability to get feedback from your customers in real-time so that you can improve your products and services.

Getting Started

1. Make sure your social media profiles are up-to-date and keyword-optimized.

When potential customers visit your social media profile, you want to make sure they can quickly and easily learn more about your business and what you do. This means having an up-to-date profile picture and bio, as well as utilizing keywords throughout your profile (such as in your bio, job title, and company description).

2. Seek out relevant hashtags and use them often.

Hashtags are a great way to reach new people who might be interested in your products or services. But not all hashtags are created equal—you want to make sure you’re using relevant, industry-specific hashtags so that you’re connecting with people who are actually interested in what you have to offer. A quick Google search can help you find popular hashtags within your industry.

3. Share interesting and informative content on a regular basis. Provide value. Don’t be a walking billboard for your products or services.

If you want people to take an interest in your business, you need to give them something worth reading, watching, or listening to. This means sharing articles, blog posts, videos, or podcasts that provide value for your audience. But don’t just share any old thing—make sure the content you’re sharing is interesting, informative, and relevant to your target audience.

4. Connect with potential customers through direct messages and comments.

Social media isn’t just about broadcasting information—it’s also about engaging in two-way conversations. When you come across someone who might be interested in your products or services (such as someone who’s commented on one of your posts), take the time to reach out and connect with them directly. You never know where a conversation might lead!

If you are not already doing social selling for your business, then now is the time to start! Social selling will level the playing field for your business by allowing you to reach your target market without spending a lot of money on advertising. It also allows you to build relationships with your customers so that they will trust you and do business with you again in the future!
